Now It’s the Hitting!!!

Can’t blame Papelbon, even if he blames himself—97MPH at the top of the zone, 99% of the time that’s a strike, a foul, or a popup. The guy just happened to guess right and hit it. The Sox went the last 8 innings without scoring. You can’t expect to win when you score 2 runs at Fenway. Beckett was great. Just too many holes in that lineup, with Ortiz an automatic out, Lowell can’t run at all, and Drew just never gets it going. Gotta be thinking seriously about life post-Pap, and sadly Lowell does not seem long for this game either—gotta be able to do better than a slow jog on the basepaths in the majors. Sox averaging less than 4 runs/game over the last 12. And now they have to go back on the road. The Yanks are coming on—and transition time is bearing down on the Sox. DH, Shortstop, Third Base, Catcher—almost half the offense, in the not-too-distant.

P.S. Tito, when it comes to Pap still batting third, in the immortal words of that classically unsympathetic chinaman Lai Jiansheng, "Jump, or get off the bridge!"
